No increase in VAT — Finance Minister

The Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has revealed that government has no plans of increasing the value-added tax (VAT) rate contrary to reports that it is planning on increasing the rate which currently at 12.5 percent.

Speaking at the 2019 mid-year budget review, Mr. Ofori-Atta said the government would rather explore innovative ways to ensure an increase in government’s revenue flows.

He chided those who have predicted that the VAT rate would be increased not to be taking lessons in economic policies from social media.
