Staff of GTBank Walk to promote “Zero Balance Account Opening” campaign

To maintain a healthy lifestyle and improve upon general well-being, and also create further awareness of the on-going “Zero Balance Account Opening” campaign by Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, Management and Staff of the Bank embarked on a health walk on Saturday, May 5, 2018 on some major streets in Accra.

The walk which involved over 300 participating staff and friends of the Bank started from the Bank’s Head Office at Ridge at 7:00am and continued to the Holy Spirit Cathedral traffic light, through Adabraka to Kwame Nkrumah Circle. The walk proceeded to the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue Road en route to the MTTU Head Office junction, down to the Tudu–Kimbu Road then finally back to the Head Office of the Bank, where they were taken through a series of rigorous aerobic exercises.

While walking, staff of the bank gave out flyers and educated passers-by on the importance of savings and the fact that everyone can open an account at GTBank without an initial deposit.

Addressing staff back in the office after the walk, the General Manager of Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, Mr. Daniel Attah encouraged staff to exercise more to enhance their fitness. “Everyone needs to exercise frequently in order to remain healthy and fit. Events like this also present us with the opportunity to gather and bond as a team and inspire one another for the tasks ahead.”

Mr. Attah threw more light on the “Zero Balance Account Opening” campaign. He said, “As a socially responsible institution, from time to time we must, aside business reasons also educate the public and customers on the importance of savings and as it were, use the opportunity also to remind the public that at GTBank, you can open an account without making any initial deposit”.

Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited began operations in Ghana in March 2006, after obtaining its universal banking license from the Bank of Ghana on 23rd February, 2006. With staff strength of over 900, the bank operates from 34 branches in seven (7) regions within the country.

In terms of its savings product offering, GTBank has Easy Savers Account which is a hybrid of the regular current and savings account, with features of one incorporated into the other, and earns account holders interest.

There is also the Target Save account which encourages saving towards a particular goal for a pre-determined period and attracts a higher interest rate than a regular savings account. With this account, customers are required to maintain an average minimum account balance of GHS200.00.

GTBank also has Smart Kids Save (SKS) and Smart Teens Save (STS) accounts which seek to create banking awareness in children under the age of twelve (12) and between thirteen (13) and eighteen (18) years respectively. Parents are encouraged to open these accounts to save towards their wards’ future endeavours.

Ghanaians who live and work in other countries can also open the Non-Resident Ghanaian (NRG) account which gives them access to a wide range of products and services including Savings, Easy Savings, Current accounts, Foreign Exchange Account, Investment in Money Market instruments as well as access to a Relationship Manager who would manage the account.

This account allows them to remit monies directly into their accounts without any third party interference. Beneficiaries can make deposits into and withdrawals from the account following the signing of an email indemnity form.

In a bid not to leave money sitting idle in their accounts, customers are encouraged to invest in Fixed Deposits and Treasury Bills for a preferred tenure and earn attractive interest on their monies.

The Bank, over the years, has earned the undisputable and enviable tag of the most technologically advanced bank in Ghana for the introduction of innovative technology-driven platforms and services to make banking easier for all Ghanaians no matter where they may be.

Account holders therefore have free access to the various electronic channels such as Internet Banking, GTWorld, *737# and myghpay through which they can carry out transactions at any time of the day and from any location without having to visit the banking halls.
